Intercooler
Superior engine performance, lower fuel consumption, reduced emissions, more effective combustion: the intercooler helps make BMW diesel engines the world's finest.
The intercooler is a special transfer unit for air heat in all BMW diesel vehicles. It is located between the engine and the turbocharger. Air intake that has been heated in the compressor is channelled through the intercooler to lower its temperature before it is introduced into the combustion chamber: cold air contains a significantly higher proportion of oxygen molecules than warm air, thereby increasing the oxygen levels in the combustion chamber. This results in improved performance as well as lower fuel consumption and emissions.
