BMW EfficientDynamics is an innovative program for reducing fuel consumption and emissions while increasing the Fahrdynamik.BMW EfficientDynamics is an innovative program for reducing fuel consumption and emissions while simultaneously enhancing driving dynamics. The long-term goal is a completely emission-free mobility.
Between 1995 and 2010, the BMW Group was able to reduce their CO2 emissions by more than 25 percent. By 2020, another 25 percent are less planned, including by electric cars.
Each BMW is equipped with BMW EfficientDynamics technologies. Many of these vehicles achieve emission levels exceeding 140 g CO2 / km. They are the impressive proof that driving pleasure and dynamism perfectly fit together and the result of extensive technological measures. These include engines with a lean operation designed to gasoline direct injection and new diesel engines with common rail of the third generation and a weight reduction of up to 20 kilograms. The Auto Start Stop function, Brake Energy Regeneration, air vent control and tires with reduced rolling resistance help to reduce fuel consumption and emissions and to enhance driving fun.
BMW Hydrogen 7
An essential part of BMW EfficientDynamics is also exploring alternative drive technologies and their consequent integration in the model range: In 2006, BMW launched the world's first hydrogen-powered luxury sedan for everyday use, the BMW Hydrogen 7 core is a bivalent twelve-cylinder engine, the keystroke is operated with either hydrogen or gasoline.
BMW ActiveHybrid X6
Another example is the BMW ActiveHybrid X6, which combines an internal combustion engine with two powerful electric motors. Depending on driving conditions, the driving force is all-electric, provided only by the engine or by the combination of both drive sources. The result: up to 20 percent lower fuel consumption and emissions compared to a similar vehicle with conventional drive.
BMW Active E
With the BMW ActiveE BMW will launch in 2011 a comprehensive field test of Alltagstauchlichkeit fully electric mobility. Electric motor, energy storage and power electronics are built into the body of a BMW 1 Series Coupe, the space remains almost obtained. For the study, 1,000 vehicles to test people in China, passed in the United States and in Europe. The results feed directly into the development of production-ready concepts.
